headerGlens Falls, NY– LARAC, The Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council invites artists or community members with an interest in art to participate in their upcoming programming.

On Saturday, May 30th, 11am-1pm participate in a Rustic Birdhouse Workshop with Local Artist and Wildlife Photographer Don Polunci. Learn how to make a rustic birdhouse in just a few hours from pre-cut pieces that can be functional and/or decorative. Choose from several designs. Wood Materials are included in cost. The workshop will also include a short discussion about suitable houses for area birds. Participants are encouraged to bring objects (such as old drawer pulls, door knobs, hardware, etc.) from home.

LARAC is also offering two workshops to aid artists in how to navigate a gallery application process. Join Lapham Gallery Curator, Jenny Hutchinson on Tuesday, June 2nd at 7pm for a Gallery Application Workshop and Saturday, June 6th at 12pm for an Image Portfolio Workshop. Workshops are $5 each for Non-Members and Free for LARAC Members to attend.

For the Gallery Application Workshop, Gallery Curator, Jenny Hutchinson will present tools and tips on how to navigate the gallery application process based on the application for Lapham Gallery. Topics of discussion include information on deciphering where to apply, how to find call for entries, and how to create the different forms such as Artist Statement, Resume/ Biography, and writing a cover letter. The Image Portfolio Workshop will present tools and tips on what items to consider when creating an image portfolio for applications. Topics of discussion include introductory information on what makes for successful imagery, organizing imagery to create a portfolio, as well as basic information on how to prepare files and photograph artwork.
