Old Forge, New York – View, a multi-arts center located in Old Forge, NY, announces the arrival of Gary VanRiper, for an informational lecture and book-signing on Friday, July 8 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, and an author’s workshop on Saturday, July 9, from 10:00 to 11:30 am.
Gary VanRiper is an award-winning journalist, photo-journalist, and self-published children’s book author. Gary’s writing and photographs have appeared in numerous publications over the years, including Adirondack Life, Birders’ World, The Conservationist, Modern Photography, and many more. He published The Camden Times and Beach Journal, an award-winning community newspaper, and hosted “Adirondack Journal,” a regular feature on the weekly regional television show Mohawk Valley Living, and currently writes a monthly article for the magazine Mohawk Valley Living. Together with his family, Gary established Adirondack Kids Press, Ltd. in order to launch the Adirondack Kids®, a 16-volume series of which more than 125,000 books have been sold.
Gary will be at View on Friday, July 8 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm for The Story Behind the Story: Adirondack Kids Author Lecture & Book Signing, during which he will talk about the origins of the series and how it became what it is today. This event is free and open to the public.
Gary will also be at View for Writing Tips and Feedback with Gary VanRiper on Saturday, July 9 from 10:00 to 11:30 am, during which Gary will share children’s book writing basics, as well as tips garnered from his experience with the regionally best-selling series, The Adirondack Kids®. Attendees are welcome to bring the first page of a work-in-progress for feedback and discussion as time permits. Preregistration is required.
