TAUNY, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York, invites the community to a festive afternoon of holiday caroling and crafting at The TAUNY Center on Friday, December 8 from 4:00-6:30pm. Crafting begins at 4:00pm and will be followed by a Christmas carol singalong with the Unitarian Universalist Church Choir of Canton, led by Carol Strome at 5:30pm. All ages are welcome (children must be supervised), and supplies will be provided for assorted make-and-take crafts. Cozy beverages and other light refreshments will be served. There is a $5 suggested donation for this program. Participants are also invited to explore TAUNY’s current exhibits: The Annual Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Contest and Display, Personal Collection Series: Cookie Cutters from the Miller Family Collection, and the Folkstore Holiday Showcase.

The TAUNY Center is located at 53 Main Street, Downtown Canton, NY. TAUNY is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people understand and appreciate the folk traditions and local culture of everyday life–present and past–in the North Country. To do so, TAUNY seeks to research and preserve a record of diverse groups, customs and traditions; to recognize and empower traditional arts and artists; to identify and promote regional identity; and to provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn about folklore and culture.
