NorthWind Fine Arts Gallery is pleased to be hosting its 2nd Annual Poetry Opening, in honor of National Poetry Month.  “Poetic License” celebrates the creative connection between the written word and visual art forms with poetry readings and new, companion, pieces of art.   The reception is Friday, April 6, from 5-7 pm, 11 Woodruff St, Saranac Lake, NY.   It is free and open to the public, light refreshments will be served.

NorthWind’s artists are very excited about extending the reach of the community’s annual activities celebrating National Poetry Month.  As one gallery member notes, “Having the poets in the gallery, reading their poems, is really special, and kind of magical.  The exhibit of interpretive artwork gives visitors to the gallery an opportunity to enjoy both the poetry and art in unique ways.”    Last year’s event featured the poets’ interpretations of the artists’ work; this year the tables are turned, and the artists have been challenged to put words into form.  Award-winning poets, both regional and from “afar” will be at the opening to read their poems.  The art will take the form of paintings in various mediums, jewelry, hot-forged metal, and photography.  Please join NorthWind Fine Arts for this wonderful and unique opening reception.  The art and poems will be on display at the gallery through April 22.

NorthWind Fine Arts is a co-operative gallery in the heart of the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks, featuring original art by Adirondack artists.  It is located at 11 Woodruff Street, Saranac Lake, NY, a short ride from Lake Placid.  Gallery hours through April are Sunday, 11-4, Thursday – Saturday 11-5.  Receptions for new exhibits are held the first Friday of each month from 5-7 pm.   518 354 1875
