SARANAC LAKE, NEW YORK: BluSeed Studios and the Lake Clear Lodge and Retreat are partnering on a series of unique learning and life-empowering experiences set in an idyllic Adirondack getaway.

The series is geared toward teachers but one doesn’t have to be a teacher to sign up and enjoy all or part of what this creative series has to offer. And teachers are encouraged to bring family and friends along knowing that there is something for everyone to enjoy in this Adirondack retreat setting.

The next retreat experience is focused on the world of plants and paper. Participants will discover how the creative arts stimulate new ideas and provide a framework for practical solutions while energizing the body and soul. Though the emphasis is on paper, the art experience is multi-disciplinary touching on a wide breadth of the arts from the visual to culinary, crafts, healing arts, and more, with an emphasis on rejuvenating or awakening the creative energy that is instilled in us all. This weekend retreat runs from April 27 to 29th.

BluSeed Studios founder and Artistic Director, Carol Marie Vossler will lead the authentic STEAM workshop titled, “The World of Plants, Paper to Create Structure”. Participants will create a 3d sculpture made out of abaca paper. Although designed with educators in mind, this workshop is open to all who wish to expand their creative consciousness.

Educators will have the opportunity to earn a variety of credits including Continuing Teacher Leadership Credits (CTLE). BluSeed Studios is an approved Sponsor of Continuing Teacher and Leadership Education pursuant to Section 80-6 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education. Creative Classroom Project is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts (NSYCA).

Participants may choose from several attendance options – full weekend, partial weekend, or just for the day. Carol will also share how she prepared her STEAM Unit including assessments and teacher overviews that educators can adapt for use in their own classroom.

Vossler states, “There are many ways on how to learn to see. When participants learn to transition from a two-dimensional plane to a three-dimensional structure, they gain the ability to see three- dimensional space in their heads, this in turn will inspire them to take what they create physically and translate into a design, hypothesis, math problem or story. Opening yourself up to new ways of discovery expands your comfort zone and increases confidence and self-esteem.”

On the culinary side of things there are fun food activities including a unique interpretive dinner experience titled “Cooking in Paper for Nutrition and Flavor. How to fold food in Parchment.”

BluSeed Studios is a 501c3 arts organization whose mission is to provide space and opportunities where artists and educators can collaborate, experiment, diverge, exhibit, and perform; to move ideas and aesthetics forward; to share this diversity with the community.

The Lake Clear Lodge & Retreat (LCL&R) specializes in “Adirondack Discovery” experiences focusing on nature-based wellness and heritage experiences.
