Clinton, NY – April 2018 – Mount Markham High School senior Anna Culver, who interns at the Kirkland Art Center through the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES’ Regional Program for Excellence is curating a pop-up show celebrating student activism.The exhibit is designed to support aspiring local artists and hear their voices. Artwork should represent student’s stories that have been affected by social movements or how students have been influenced to stand up and speak in support of the #Neveragain, #Enough, #Metoo, and other movements.

This show will inspire youths and young adults to express their perspectives as they have been influenced by these movements. Students must be attending middle school, high school or college classes. “We’re looking for pieces that exemplify and celebrate a social movement while representing the voices that want to be heard.” Two and three-dimensional artwork will be accepted: drawings, paintings, sculptures, printmaking, photography and poetry. We encourage participants to attend the opening to talk about their art or perform their written works.
