Do you love music? On Saturday, October 27, The Plattsburgh Gospel Choir is coming to Saranac Lake for a double event: an evening concert and a workshop for all singers, held at the Saranac Lake First United Methodist Church.

The workshop with 2 master classes offered by the choir, runs from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. All singers are invited – and no music reading is needed. Just your voices and spirts. The cost is only a dish to pass for the pot luck for all attendees.

Just want to listen? The evening concert, from 6:30 -8 pm, will feature both the Gospel Choir and workshop participants. It’s free. Donations will be accepted for Samaritan House in Saranac Lake. (Transitional housing and support services for homeless people.) The “Dreamers” – the Peace with Justice committee of the Saranac Lake Ecumenical Council are sponsoring this event.

The Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir (PSGC), a group organized by students in 1991, seeks to share this unique American genre. They average 25 performances annually throughout the region, and have performed nationally and internationally in Washington DC, Toronto and Tokyo, among others. The choir has appeared on several TV shows including the WORD Network and Mountain Lake PBS.   In 2014, they placed second in the Gospel Choir Competition held at the University of Binghamton. They have released seven CD’s and two DVD’s. Since 1991, Dexter Criss has served as the choir’s pianist, choir director and now artistic director. They have also performed in Saranac Lake for First Night.

This day full of great energy promises to lift your spirits! Workshop spots may be limited, reservations requested.
