PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Strand Center for the Arts is excited to announce artist,Amy Guglielmo as the featured artist in their Gallery Cooperative. The exhibition opening is Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.

The Gallery Cooperative is a collection of artists, each expert at their chosen medium. In addition to featured artist, Amy Guglielmo, painters Carol Hochreiter, Marilyn Kretser, Lorrie Mandigo, Sandy Fox, Donna Austin, Diane Leifheit, Judy Guglielmo and photographer, Ron Nolland will also exhibit their works.

Amy Guglielmo is an award-winning artist and author. She studied art at Plattsburgh State, Colorado College, and The Tamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico. She founded the Via Verde School of Art in New York City and currently teaches high school art in the Adirondacks. Amy’s books include: the Touch the Art series (Sterling 2006, 2009, 2010), POCKET FULL OF COLORS: The Magical World of Mary Blair Disney Artist Extraordinaire (Atheneum 2017), and How to Build a Hug: Temple Grandin and Her Amazing Squeeze Machine (Atheneum 2018), with co-author Jacqueline Tourville.

Amy’s work is influenced the art of children and the traditional folk art of her home in the Adirondacks and her adopted home in Costa Rica. She paints with a sense of humor and whimsy, in colors that project a sugared fantasy on everyday objects. She hopes that her work makes people smile.

This unique exhibit will be on view in The Strand Center Community Gallery at 23 Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh from January 4 to January 25, 2019.
