The Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd is excited to partner with ASCENT, a professional coaching program for authors to offer free creative coaching opportunities to high-school aged writers and illustrators.
In two consecutive workshops, David Hazard, author and internationally known writing coach will teach teen writers to craft a powerful short story. Participants should plan to attend both writing sessions. The sessions are Thursday, Jan. 10, 5-8 pm and Thursday, Feb. 7, 5-8 pm. Please call the library (315) 369-6008 to register.
In March, in two separate illustration workshops, young illustrators will learn from illustration instructors, Bronwyn Kiefer and Cynthia Brownell, and create works focusing on black and white techniques. Those workshops will be held Thursday, March 7, 5-8 pm and Thursday, March 21, 5-8 pm.
Dinner breaks will be included in the sessions.
The efforts culminating from these classes will be published as a book. The book release will be in late spring, 2019, in conjunction with a local high school exhibit at View.
All of the coaching opportunities are offered at no charge. Participants will all receive complimentary copies of the published book they contributed to.
