Watercolor by Stevie Capozio

SARANAC LAKE, NY— BluSeed Studios at 24 Cedar Street announces a brand new exhibit in the gallery space opening on January 11. Adirondack Eclectic is a group show that features the works of artists who use the Adirondacks as their muse.

BluSeed Studios Artistic Director Carol Marie Vossler conceived the exhibit following a visit to enamel artist Stevie Capozio’s studio. Stevie is a long-time friend and colleague of Vossler and when she saw her work all together along with work of her late husband, Joe Capozio, the Adirondack Eclectic exhibit began to gel. Vossler said, “I wanted to celebrate Stevie’s lifetime commitment to art and the Adirondacks…she has been creating works for eighty years and having an exhibition of her work in combination with these artists who follow the same path made sense to me.” Vossler continued, “Much of her art is already in collections, so this will be a great opportunity to view her remaining work and invest in her remaining enamels and paintings.”

Stevie Capozio is a retired art educator who has been making art since the age of seventeen and still continues today at the age of ninety-seven. She no longer creates enamels but still creates paintings of landscapes, people and animals. She is the inventor of the Naml-On color controller which allows one to create multi-layered illustrated enamels on copper shapes. She donated her Naml-On process and studio equipment to BluSeed Studios.  Vossler reported that her equipment has been integrated into the art center so Capozio’s enameling legacy can continue to be used by other artists in upcoming workshops at BluSeed.

Joining in the Adirondack Eclectic exhibit are other renowned Adirondack artists including Mavis Agnew, Nancy Brossard, Sandra Hildreth, Robert Mathers, Carl Rubino and Jeri Wright.

The public is invited to the opening on Friday January 11 from 6pm-8pm. The reception will celebrate all of the participating artists’ contributions and dedication to their work.

BluSeed Studios gallery hours are Monday – Friday 1pm to 5pm and Saturdays noon- 5pm or by appointment.

This show will run through February 24 in the gallery space at the art center at 24 Cedar Street.
