The Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., will hold three art instruction workshops in conjunction with the library’s upcoming Annual Poetry and Illustration Contest and Exhibit: My Favorite. Participants in the workshops are not required to enter their work and exhibit entrants are not required to attend the workshops.
Loretta Lepkowski will lead the workshop for adults on Thursday, January 24 from 5-7 pm. Loretta is an award winning artist who has been inspired by her upbringing on a small dairy farm in the Tug Hill and previous careers in social work and elementary education. She has a passion for painting in various mediums including watercolor, pastel, acrylic and charcoal.
Workshops for student writers will be held on Saturday, January 26 from 11 am – 1 pm. Kindergarten through 6th grade students will be led by Bronwen Keefer. Bronwen is the art teacher at the Town of Webb Schools. She enjoys seeing a classroom of learners each come up with their own twist on an assignment as they gain confidence in their ability to create.
Students in grades 7 – 12 will be led by Jim Tracy. Jim is retired from a visual arts teaching career at the Town of Webb Schools. Artistic by nature, Jim is also a talented musician who frequently entertains locally.
Registration for the free workshops is appreciated but walk-ins are welcome. These programs are funded by CNY Arts and the Friends of the Old Forge Library.
