SARANAC LAKE, NEW YORK–BluSeed Studios previews prehistoric masks from its recent mask-making workshops in anticipation of Saranac Lake’s winter carnival on January 31 from 5pm to 7 pm. All are invited to come and see what the participants have created and enjoy the Adirondack Eclectic exhibit featured in the gallery space through February 24.

January 31 also ushers in the first Open-Minded Mic Night of 2019 at BluSeed Studios. BluSeed has invited local reporter/photographer Griffin Kelly to host the evening. Griffin plays music though he says, “I’m not really a musician. I’m just a dude who lives in town and loves open mic nights. Even if I’m not singing the best song, writing the most interesting story or telling the funniest joke, I like to participate in arts and culture. I’m a journalist for the local paper, so that means I’m a jack of all trades and a master of none. Writing about myself is probably the most challenging thing for me to do…”

Griffin’s quirky wit and dry humor interspersed with the local talent that will take the stage will prove to make it a memorable event.

BluSeed’s Open-Minded Mic night begins at 7:30 PM on Thursday, January 31 and runs until 9:30 PM. Performers are invited to arrive by 7PM to sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. Performers are allotted seven minutes on stage. BluSeed Artistic Director, Carol Vossler, stresses that, “though the setting is informal and supportive, it is a professional setting nonetheless with sound engineer Russ Feher on the sound board to ensure that all performers have the same professional experience.”

Admission is by donation (adults: suggested $5.00; $3.00 students). Door prizes are awarded throughout the evening and refreshments are available.
