Remsen Social Club

Remsen Social Club

Park Coffee House in Holland Patent opens its 2019 Winter/Spring season on January 12 at 7:30 PM with the Remsen Social Club, a fast paced local string band.

Group members include Bryan Davies (banjo, vocals), Tim Slusarczyk (upright bass, vocals), and Ben Carrier (guitar, mandolin, vocals). They will be joined on stage by Liz Friedel on fiddle.

After dabbling in the local bluegrass scene and being disappointed by the lack of variety, Bryan Davies decided to start a project of his own. Nicholas Burns and Timothy Slusarczyk both answered his call to form a group. After shuffling through some additional members, Ben Carrier joined the group that took the name Remsen Social Club as a tribute to their hometown. Together, they began in earnest to craft their own sound. These days, Liz Friedel on fiddle now joins in.

They call themselves a rowdy little string band, tearing their way around the local music scene, fueled by the sound of stomping feet. Remsen Social Club performs their own tunes and revised covers from groups including the Grateful Dead and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The Remsen Social Club always keeps true to their alternative, newgrass, Americana roots.

Admission is $12.00, $5.00 for students, and no charge for children 12 and younger. The doors open at 7:00 PM, and the music starts at 7:30 PM.

Homemade desserts, coffee, tea, cocoa, and cider served by Park Coffee House volunteers will be available for a donation before the show and during intermission. Proceeds from the refreshments benefit the local food pantry operated by Foothills Rural Community Ministry. FRCM, the parent organization of Park Coffee House, is a local non-denominational charity.

Park Coffee House is located at the Twin Churches, in the village of Holland Patent, just off Main Street (NYS Route 365), across from the park.

On January 26, Cincinnati Creek returns to PCH, followed by Jerry Dee and the Dovetones on February 16, Pepper and Sassafras on March 2, Jamcrackers on April 13, Wildflower on May 18, and Local Favorites on June 8.
