Old Forge, New York — View Arts Center is calling for artists to submit their work for the 2019 Central Adirondack Art Show, which will take place April 13th to June 19th, 2019.

The Central Adirondack Art Show is a long-standing Old Forge tradition showcasing some of the finest artists throughout the Central Adirondack Region and beyond. The Show is open to current artists ages 16 and up who are either members of View or reside within 200 miles of Old Forge, New York.

Artists may submit one work in any medium except video, film, and sound. Submission fee is $15 for View members and $20 for guests. A full prospectus and pre-registration are available at viewarts.org.

Through its donors, View will provide a series of awards to selected participating artists. Each award winner will receive a traditional handmade Adirondack Chip Award. Select awards will also include a monetary prize.

This year’s awards judge is Robert Imundo, an artist currently living and working in the Adirondacks. As he frames it, “I’m interested in creating work that best represents my unique perspective of the world. It is my desire to cultivate an attitude of open-mindedness for myself and hopefully for those who see my work. To look at the world with a fresh eye, to shake up perspectives. Because I live and work in the Adirondacks much of my artwork has been oriented towards nature and wildlife. My natural inclination is work that comes from a more personal place, leaning towards fantasy and surrealism, I weave this into most of my work, blending the natural world with that which lies within me.”

Admission for the art show is $10 for guests and is free for View members. An artist reception will be held on Friday, May 4th from 5 PM to 7 PM. This reception is free and open to the public. View is located at 3273 State Route 28 in Old Forge, NY.
