If you’re looking for something to brighten these dark winter nights, come on out to Park Coffee House in Holland Patent on Saturday, February 16, when Jerry Dee and The Dovetones take the stage to perform their lively versions of hits from past decades. Showtime is 7:30 PM.
This Utica based group features familiar tunes from the 1920s to the 1960s. They showcase vintage “hot jazz,” Prohibition era jazz, and original jazz based music. You’ll also hear selections from The Great American Songbook and swing standards from Irving Berlin, to Cab Calloway, plus Fats Waller to Frank Sinatra. Classic blues and rock -n-roll from Elvis Presley to Carl Perkins are on their play list, as well as ska-classics from The Blues Busters and Bob Marley and The Wailers.
Park Coffee House audiences will remember Jerry Dee from his past appearances as bass player with the former duo The Rusty Doves. For this new band, Jerry plays guitar and sings vocals. He is joined by Sean Peters on upright bass, Devin Garramone on tenor sax, and Sam Kininger on alto sax.
From jazz, to swing, to rock-n-roll, and more, Jerry Dee and The Dovetones will be entertaining the audience with the kind of music that gets toes tapping. A dance party might just break out.
The doors open at 7:00 PM , and the music starts at 7:30 PM. Admission is $12.00, $5.00 for students, and no charge for children 12 and younger.
Before the performance and during the intermission, homemade desserts, coffee, tea, cocoa, and cider will be available for a donation. Park Coffee House volunteers prepare and serve the refreshments. Proceeds benefit the local food pantry operated by non-denominational charity Foothills Rural Community Ministry, the parent organization of Park Coffee House.
You’ll find Park Coffee House at the historic Twin Churches, in the village of Holland Patent, just off Main Street (NYS Route 365), across from the park.
