NorthWind Fine Arts Gallery is pleased to exhibit the work of last year’s juried show winner, Ruth Crotty. Ruth is a native of New York State and received a BFA from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA in 1969. She has been painting and exhibiting in upstate New York since 1992. The opening reception for her show “Remembering Summer” is Friday, March 1, from 5-7 pm. The gallery is located at 11 Woodruff Street, Saranac Lake, NY. The reception is free and open to the public, light refreshments will be served. The exhibit will be on display through March 31st.
Ruth describes her beautiful plein air paintings as “… a response to the environment around her, specifically a time and place. These soft days have a magic all of their own, with saturated color juxtaposed with neutral grays. With changing light, nothing ever looks the same twice. These nuances of light and their impact on color and texture are what intrigues her, inspiring her to capture them in a painting. She wants to pass on to the viewer the mood created, the thing that made her want to make the painting, to share a time and place.” Please join us at the gallery for a welcome “summer-in-March” respite.
