This summer, Pendragon Theatre is celebrating their 40th season anniversary with a mix of comedies, musicals, a twist on a classic and a perennial favorite.

The first show of the summer season is Native Gardens, a comedy of good intentions and bad manners by Karen Zacarías, where gardens and cultures clash, turning friendly neighbors into feuding enemies. It opens June 21 and features the acting talents of Fran Yardley and Burdette Parks. Pendragon’s summer musical is the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning Next to Normal, running July 5 through August 10. Next to Normal, by Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt, explores how one suburban family struggles with mental illness and reconnects against all odds. In July, Camp Pendragon will be presenting Mary Poppins, Jr., the Broadway musical based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time. A Doll’s House, Part 2 runs August 2 through August 23. In this modern addition to the Ibsen classic, by Obie Award winning, Lucas Hnath, Nora returns to the house she abandoned and the domestic life she thought she had given up forever. The final show of the summer is Larry Shue’s The Foreigner. One of the most popular comedies ever performed at the theatre (in 1996 and 2005), The Foreigner returns as a special 40th anniversary reboot that runs August 16 through September 8.

“We are thrilled to present our 40th anniversary summer season featuring a audience favorite from the past, a new issue-based play, a small-cast musical, a family friendly show, and a return of a classic with a twist,” says Pendragon’s Executive Artistic Director, Karen Lordi-Kirkham. “This group of award winning dramas reflect what has become Pendragon’s season signature over the past four decades. We look forward to welcoming back some of our wonderful artists from the past both on and backstage and invite you to celebrate with us as we look ahead to a new space and another 40 years of producing professional theater in Saranac Lake.”

Pendragon will be holding open auditions for the 2019 Summer Season on February 16 and 23. Camp Pendragon auditions will be held this spring.
