Prior to the 19th century, machining was primarily done by hand and file. Come keep tradition alive and bring your ironwork to the next level. In this intensive five-day class, students will be shown how to forge, file and braze a key and build a simple integral lock suitable for a tool chest or keepsake box. Historical techniques will be used, and students should expect to spend as much time (or more) filing as forging. Students considering this class should have some blacksmithing experience, good fire management skills and good hammer control.

NOTE: Hard shoes and long pants are required for student’s safety.
