Seeing with Words: Writing Workshop at the Hyde House
November 19, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
GLENS FALLS, NY — Stroll through the Hyde House, with its lush draperies and centuries-old furnishings. Stop to look closely at Pablo Picasso’s Boy Holding a Blue Vase and to drink in the landscape of Winslow Homer’s A Good One, Adirondacks. In Hoopes Gallery, feel the dark corners of David Smith’s Untitled 10/9/52. And be inspired.
Acclaimed writer Marilyn McCabe offers Seeing the Words: Writing Workshop from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday, November 19, at The Hyde Collection. McCabe is a poet interested in the intersection of media and is inspired by art. Workshop participants will be given a tour of the Museum and current exhibition, Artists of the Mohawk-Hudson Region, by Museum Educator Jenny Hutchinson. Then McCabe will help them focus their inspiration, leading exercises and discussions to help develop each person’s “creative voice.” The workshop is intended for those of all experience levels interested in writing poetry, short stories, and memoirs, and is perfect for artists looking to improve their writing skills to later apply to their own art.
McCabe is the published writer of poems and chapbooks. She has been honored by the New York State Council on the Arts, A Room of Her Own Foundation, and Adirondack Center for Writing.
The workshop, which includes lunch, is $40 for Hyde members and $50 for non-members. Register by contacting Colette at 518-792-1761 ext. 310 or [email protected]
